About Sakal Time

Who runs Sakal Time, what the blog covers, how articles are researched and checked, and how to reach the people who write them.

About this blog

Sakal Time publishes when there is something to publish. There is no schedule and no filler, and every piece stays in the archive even after we have changed our minds about it.

We started publishing after realising that the useful information about the subject existed, but only in the heads of people who had no reason to write it down. Sakal Time writes it down.

The limits of this site

There are questions we routinely decline. Anything that depends on facts only you can see, and anything where being wrong would cost you real money on our say so.

The method

Each article answers one question about the subject and then stops. Padding a page to look thorough is the easiest way to waste a reader's afternoon.

We keep the commercial side visible. Some outbound links earn us money, and that never buys a change to the text around them.

If you want the mechanics rather than the summary, the editorial policy has them, including what we refuse to publish.

The people

You can see who wrote what, and you can see everything else they wrote. That is deliberate, because it makes a bad article expensive for the person who wrote it.

Sam Wickfield, Productivity and systems writer. Sam writes about the systems and habits that help people work better without burning out. He is interested in what actually changes behaviour rather than what sounds good in a productivity book, and his writing reflects years of testing ideas in real life.

Claire Donovan, Habits and lifestyle writer. Claire covers the intersection of habits, routines and everyday wellbeing. She writes for people who want to make lasting changes without overhauling their whole life, and draws on behavioural research to explain why small shifts often matter more than big ones.

Theo Bassett, Focus and planning writer. Theo writes about attention, planning and the mental side of getting things done. He is particularly interested in how people protect their focus in environments designed to fragment it, and what planning systems actually hold up under pressure.

What we publish

  • Productivity. Articles filed under Productivity.
  • Habits. Articles filed under Habits.
  • Time Management. Articles filed under Time Management.
  • Focus. Articles filed under Focus.
  • Planning. Articles filed under Planning.
  • Lifestyle. Articles filed under Lifestyle.

Each piece sits under exactly one heading. Readers arriving from search mostly land in productivity, habits and time management, so those sections get looked after first.

How this is paid for

The site pays for itself through a small number of outbound links. It has never been enough to change what gets written, and the day it is, we will say so here.

Telling us we are wrong

Tell us which line is wrong and why, at [email protected] or through the contact page. Small errors are corrected the same week. Anything that changes the advice gets a dated note at the bottom of the article.
